"Design is Storytelling" by Ellen Lupton is one of my favorite books that I have read in recent years. It influenced my approach to presenting new ideas. It also aided and expanded my design thinking while working through our newer apparel. It's a quick concise read. I've read it multiple times to grasp certain concepts, particularly how colors affect users and why we are naturally drawn to certain combinations. Colors trigger emotions and carry different meanings in the human brain, explaining our natural attraction to certain hues. To better comprehend the power of our brand's primary colors, I looked more into their significance. Using that color understanding I created some brand values associated with the colors. It's been a very interesting process and has made me become more intention and purposeful with our use of color.
