Monday’s Status Spotlight is all about a young black king who has found his voice utilizing his Mind Over Matter podcast. I don’t know about you, but the hot topic in the office nowadays seems to always be centered on an edgy, new podcast to tune into. They give us a nice break from the droning daily radio shows that can be overly repetitive, and often lack real life, unfiltered substance. The Mind Over Matter podcast doesn’t put anything on the back-burner when it comes to risky conversation, and King Naj created his masterpiece to leave a legacy.
Najee Ellerbe, a Washingtonian through and through, has made it his point to live and breathe positivity and open-mindedness with everything that he does. With a B.A. from Virginia State University and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University, he sparked Mind Over Matter as an outlet for elevation. If you already follow him on Twitter, or if you’ve heard his podcast, you know that he has absolutely no filter. Najee isn’t afraid to push the envelope, discuss topics that may seem taboo, or to speak boldly about what he truly believes in. With his sultry made-for-radio voice, he covers an array of topics, including relationship therapy, makeup, classic hip hop, the “hoe phase” and so much more. Available on both Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud, anyone who’s interested in what he has to say can tune in for some pretty amazing insights and opinions. Najee has even had the opportunity to host a panel on the “hoe phase” topic where young men and women discussed all aspects of life, love, relationships and sexual freedom. This all spurred from receiving such a great reaction and response from supporters who listened to the original podcast.
Najee is certainly stirring things up, and he wants people to know that Mind Over Matter represents more than just an outlet for him and others to speak freely. It represents the mindset and knowledge that we can do whatever we see in our futures, and that we do not have to be the product of our given circumstances. Anybody can change the path they’re on with critical thinking, hard work and determination. Najee would like to see strength and persistence coming from his friends and family, and togetherness from the black community in Washington, DC. With his raw, transparent outlook on life, we are sure to see more interesting and uplifting projects to come from this tenacious young man. Make sure you stay up to date with all things Mind Over Matter and start lending your ears, beloved.
